Give your bras a little check up.

How do you know when to move on from a bra? Here’s a few top tips from Megan, our Bra Fitter in Chief, to help you navigate what to keep and what to toss (and what we’d love to have for our upcoming bra drive!).

A woman in jeans and a white blouse stands holding a bra up in front of her body, with the text "bring us your bra please" over the top of the image.

Ask yourself:

Is this something I cannot wait to take off? If yes, toss or donate – we need more information. If the condition is good – but it’s just NOT your favorite, we’d love to have it, but if perhaps it’s seen many, many better days, consider a textile recycling program instead.

Am I comfortable in this size or style? If yes – consider keeping it, especially if there’s room to tighten as it stretches. Does this solve a problem in your wardrobe that you foresee needing regularly? If yes, keeping it is probably a good idea. If no – and again, the condition is good or great – we’d love to pass it on to someone else. Give a little tug on the elastic – if it pulls back with some enthusiasm, it’d be a great candidate for donation.

Is this bra broken in any way? Have you added pins, duct tape (yeah, really – but it’s not our first choice for making repairs on bras), or had to otherwise modify it to wear it? Y’all know what I’m going to say here: if you can replace it, the tape or pins is probably a sign to move forward with a new bra, but we’re not accepting broken or modified items for donation, because there is dignity in quality.

Bras that you’re wearing on the tightest hook, or where the straps continually give you grief, might need to be voted off your own personal bra island too. If there’s no damage to the bra – consider donating it and picking out something amazing for yourself with our Thank You discount.

For our bra drive, we are requiring that donated items be in good used condition – some small signs of wear are fine, but we ask that you only donate items that have good, useful futures ahead of them. Think about styles you bought but ended up not loving, and therefore didn’t wear often, or things that are no longer your size – but could very well be someone else’s.

  1. I would like to come in and enlist your help in deciding which of my bras (purchased in your store) are keepers!
